About the Artist

Jenny McKinnon Wright Fine Art

A painter of emotion

Jenny McKinnon Wright - Biography

JennyMcKinnon Wright is “intrigued by light, as it affects nature in a particular moment. To paint that emotion and share it with the viewer is my goal.  Something captures my eye---the light, the lines, the colors that I actually see. If the light on an old building is glowing in the late afternoon, I might underpaint the scene in a warm red. Later, that underpainting will shine through and give the painting the glow that captured me earlier.”

Both a studio and plein air painter, Wright  first realized her artistic love at her well-known watercolor, artist, and aunt, Sarah McKinnon’s side. She then earned an art degree from ECU, followed by MFA  graduate work at Georgia, State University, while teaching high school art in Atlanta. A constant student, Jenny delights in the adventure of pushing oil paint around in luscious color combinations, using varied techniques to build forms. Learning is her passion, and every painting is a teacher!

Her work hangs in public places and in many private collections. She is represented by the Verrazano Gallery within  ArtWorks and in the Cameron Art Museum shop.
